Google Taking Over Myspace in Two Months
I really hadn’t checked traffic details on a lot of the social sites out there recently until today. I was quite surprised with the results, I must admit. I mean, would you believe that…
- Facebook, which is trying to sell for $2,000,000,000 (that’s two-billion dollars) receives a considerable amount of traffic less than Friendster, Hi5, Orkut, or, of course, Myspace.
- While, as mentioned above, Hi5, Friendster, and Orkut receive more traffic, Facebook enjoys more time in the limelight.
- Orkut, which is owned by web giant Google, is amassing quite a user base. Given it’s current growth rate, which appears to be very consistant and steady, Orkut should surpass Myspace in less than 2 months! Take a look at the traffic comparison of the two below.
This is pretty impressive given the service seemed to be having trouble 6-8 months ago. This could very well be a sign to competitors that the invite only approach can really develop a more loyal userbase. Orkut’s traffic is very consistant, a good sign of loyal users. I just managed to nab an invite, so I’ll be sure to post more on what makes Orkut unique and other possible reasons for growth.
